Head of Estates

Curated Talent Group are working in partnership to recruit a full-time Head of Estates to lead the estates function for a large, multi site property portfolio across the West Midlands region.

You will be responisible for the strategic management, maintenance and performance of a diverse estate comprising offices, training facilities and community use buildings.
The Head of Estate will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight and professional assurance across all Hard and Soft Facilities Management services. This is a senior appointment reporting directly to the Chief Executive.
The Role
The Head of Estate holds overall responsibility for the delivery, performance and compliance of estates and facilities management services across the organisation's property portfolio.
You will lead a multi-disciplinary estates team and work closely with industry partners, customers and stakeholders to ensure buildings are safe, compliant, well-maintained and fit for purpose. The role includes strategic planning, contract management, supplier oversight and budgetary control for projects up to £5 million.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction and professional guidance to the Estates Team.
Manage the delivery and performance of Hard and Soft FM contracts.
Oversee land management services and alternative venue operations.
Maintain strong supplier, customer and stakeholder relationships.
Manage delegated budgets and capital projects up to £5 million.
Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, contractual and health & safety requirements.
Oversee lease management, including renewals and negotiations with landlords and tenants.
Report regularly to the Finance & Estates Committee and the organisation's Board.
Line-manage Senior Estate Managers, Head of Alternative Venues and the Estates Manager for Health, Safety & Environmental Protection.
Undertake regular UK-wide travel, including occasional overnight stays.
About You
Applicants must hold, or be working towards, full membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIWFM, MCIOB, MRICS, CEng) or possess equivalent professional experience.
Essential Experience
Proven background in estates or facilities management.
Strong supplier and customer relationship management.
Demonstrable understanding of statutory, regulatory and professional compliance.
Experience managing industry partners and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Knowledge of building condition, pathology and performance.
Contract management and budget oversight within an estates/FM environment.
Leadership of multi-skilled teams.
Desirable Experience
Commercial property or estates management.
Strategic leadership of a customer-facing estates function.
Lease management and landlord/tenant negotiations.
Experience overseeing major FM service-delivery contracts.
Salary & Benefits
£60,000 - £62,000 per annum
25 days annual leave (rising to 30 days after five years' service) plus public holidays
Career Average Revalued Earnings pension scheme (13% employer contribution, 5% employee contribution)
