You’ll work across a diverse portfolio of UK and international projects, supporting both internal design teams and external clients across sectors including Defence, Nuclear, Justice, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Transport, Government, Commercial and the Middle East.Whether you’re an experienced Specification Consultant looking to further develop your career, or a Senior Specification Consultant ready to lead projects, mentor colleagues and help grow the team, this role offers outstanding long-term progression within a specialist consultancy.The OpportunityWorking alongside Architects, Architectural Technologists, Building Surveyors and multidisciplinary design teams, you’ll be responsible for producing coordinated architectural specifications throughout the design process.Rather than simply writing specifications, you’ll interrogate architectural designs, challenge proposals where required and develop robust technical specifications that align with design intent, contract requirements, performance criteria and project objectives.Projects typically range from 3-9 months, with multiple live commissions running simultaneously across both the UK and international markets.Senior-level candidates will also have the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior consultants, build long-term client relationships, contribute to business development and play a key role in the continued growth of the team.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce detailed architectural specifications using NBS Chorus.Review architectural designs and develop coordinated project specifications.Work closely with Architects, Architectural Technologists, Building Surveyors and multidisciplinary design teams.Interrogate design proposals to ensure appropriate specification solutions.Coordinate specifications with drawings, BIM models and technical documentation.Advise on material selection, construction methods and technical compliance.Support projects across multiple RIBA work stages.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external clients.Lead projects and mentor junior team members (Senior level).Contribute to business development, repeat business and process improvements (Senior level).Essential Skills & ExperienceBackground in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Building Surveying or Specification Writing.Experience producing architectural specifications using NBS Chorus.Strong understanding of building construction, materials and detailing.Ability to coordinate specifications alongside drawings and BIM information.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Desirable ExperienceAutodesk Revit and BIM workflows.Knowledge of CAWS and Uniclass classification systems.Site or construction experience.Experience within Defence, Nuclear, Healthcare, Justice, Infrastructure or other highly regulated sectors.Experience managing projects or mentoring junior staff.Business development and client relationship management (Senior level).What’s on OfferPermanent or contract opportunity.Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home).Opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of UK and international projects.Exposure to a wide variety of sectors including Defence, Nuclear, Healthcare, Justice, Infrastructure, Transport and Government.Clear career progression into project leadership, people management and business development.Collaborative specialist team with ongoing mentoring and professional development.Long-term pipeline of technically challenging work.If you’re an Architectural Technologist, Specification Consultant or Specification Writer looking to join a specialist consultancy delivering major UK and international projects, we’d be keen to hear from you.Please apply with your CV or contact Jonah Peto at Morson Edge for a confidential discussion.E:jonah.peto@morson-edge.comT: 0117 452 1070M: 07966 532 470
