Production Line Leader

COMPANY OVERVIEW Bees Seeds Limited is a leading provider of garden products and display stands to Garden Centres, Regional Retailers, and Key Accounts. ROLE PURPOSE A line leader works in manufacturing and oversees key aspects of assembly line production. Their main duties include quality assurance, setting up the assembly line, and ensuring that the line meets productivity goals. RESPONSIBILITIES Set up and be able to run different production lines. Follow production plan and effectively manage staff allocated to the line in order to deliver units planned within the allocated time. Be a true leader able to train, instruct and motivate operatives on the line. Conduct on-the-job training for new starters and existing employees. Monitor operator performance and provide coaching where required. Promote positive team behaviour and address minor performance concerns. Ensure effective communication between management and production operatives. Advise production supervisor of any issues on the production line. Track efficiency and constantly review line speed and downtime to ensure line is running to the plan. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and safety. Work safely and within Bees Seeds Health and Safety Guidelines. Housekeeping advocate - To help keep work area tidy and remove waste. Manual handling – to move items safely as instructed. Respect other team members and abide by the Bees Seeds Culture and Team Promises. Ensure all processes and procedures are adhered to and realign staff where necessary. Ensure all products meet customer and quality specifications. Stop production and escalate quality concerns when standards cannot be met. Identify and segregate non-conforming products. Support the SHEQ team ensuring effective pre-use check and all relevant SSOW’s are defined and fully integrated into the organisation. Report any safety issues on the production line and escalate if necessary Attend team and individual meetings with Supervisors as well as briefs and toolbox talks. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Communication – Fluent English reading / writing and speaking. Health & Safety – sound understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace. Basic computer skills ACCOUNTABILITIES Own punctuality and attendance Tidiness of own work area & wider production area. Attitude to supervisor and colleagues Achieving planned output targets. Product quality standards. Accurate production reporting. PERSON PROFILE The ideal line leader is hard working, safety conscious, a team player, with high standards of housekeeping. In addition, a grade 3 line leader should be results-focussed, a good leader and a clear communicator with basic computer skills. ESSENTIAL QUALITIES Ability to communicate verbally and in writing simple concepts. Problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines. Good attention to detail Maintains good housekeeping standards A willingness to learn Leadership skills Results oriented DESIRABLE QUALITIES Experience leading teams.
