SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary SEN School (Complex Needs)
Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our specialist primary SEN school in Stockport. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with complex learning difficulties, autism, communication needs, and physical disabilities in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to provide high-quality care and education for pupils with a range of complex needs. You will play a vital role in helping children achieve their individual learning, social, and personal development goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Assist in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions.
Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social development.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to support pupil progress.
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
Provide personal care support, including toileting, changing, feeding, and hygiene assistance where required.
Promote the safety, wellbeing, and dignity of all pupils.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with children with SEND, preferably within a school, care, or support setting.
Knowledge or understanding of complex needs, autism spectrum conditions, and communication difficulties.
A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A willingness to undertake personal care duties as part of the role.
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
