About the role

CNX Recruitment is looking for experienced electricians with 2391 to carry out inspection, testing and remedial works for a local authority in and around Fort William. This is long-term, steady work, with two years' worth of work in the pipeline.

Inspection and testing duties

Carrying out EICRs on council housing and public buildings
Full dead and live testing: continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, Zs/Ze, PFC and RCD tests
Visual inspection of consumer units, wiring, accessories, bonding and earthing
Identifying and coding defects (C1, C2, C3, FI) in line with BS 7671
Completing certificates and reports accurately on digital certification software
Making installations safe and isolating dangerous circuits where needed
Working in occupied homes, with professional communication with tenants

Remedial works

Consumer unit upgrades and replacements
RCD/RCBO installation and upgrades
Main and supplementary bonding upgrades
Replacing damaged or non-compliant sockets, switches and fittings
Installing and upgrading smoke, heat and CO alarms to the Scottish standard (interlinked)
Fault finding and repairs
Issuing Minor Works and EIC certificates on completion

Requirements

City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent inspection and testing qualification)
Gold ECS card
18th Edition (BS 7671)
Your own calibrated multifunction tester
A full UK driving licence (the work covers a wide rural area)
Experience on social housing or local authority contracts is desirable
