About the role
Role Purpose
As a Senior Project Manager, you will provide strategic project leadership across a range of built environment projects. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing project delivery, coordinating consultant and contractor teams, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will play a key role in supporting the consultancy's continued growth while maintaining exceptional service delivery across a varied project portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of projects across commercial, residential, higher education, heritage, and logistics sectors.
- Manage projects through all stages of the lifecycle, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and handover.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing professional advice and project updates.
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, risk registers, and reporting frameworks.
- Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary consultant teams and contractor stakeholders.
- Chair project meetings and ensure effective communication between all parties.
- Monitor project performance against programme, cost, quality, and risk objectives.
- Identify and resolve project issues while implementing mitigation strategies where required.
- Support procurement and tendering activities, including consultant and contractor appointments.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Contribute to business development activities and support the growth of client relationships.
- Mentor and support junior members of the project management team.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager role within a consultancy, client-side, or construction environment.
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects within the built environment sector.
- Strong knowledge of project management principles and construction delivery processes.
- Experience managing project programmes, budgets, risks, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Degree qualified in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership with APM, RICS, CIOB, or an equivalent professional body.
- Experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms.
- Experience delivering projects across multiple sectors, including heritage and higher education
