Suffolk FWAG Environmental Farm AdvisorFlexible/Full-Time/Part-TimeLocation: Clopton Park, WoodbridgeSalary will be commensurate with experience (30,000 pro rata)Suffolk FWAG provides expert on-farm environmental advice and tailored services to the agricultural sector. We are part of the national FWAG Association.Our aims are to restore, protect and create healthy farming systems through environmental and natural capital protection, resource management and improved efficiency. Embedding natural capital at the heart of agricultural production whilst promoting knowledge-sharing through best practice and collaboration at landscape scale towards sustainable farming. We are dedicated to supporting a diverse range of farming practices that are both economically viable and environmentally sound.This full-time, flexible position will offer a highly motivated and passionate individual the chance to develop or further a rewarding career in the environmental agricultural sector.We are seeking an experienced Environmental Farm Advisor to join our small team based near Woodbridge Suffolk.The successful applicant will be a proactive member of the team offering strong service delivery throughout the county’s agricultural sector. Promoting the organisations’ influence and credibility as a leading advisory body for sustainable food, farming and land use in Suffolk.The role requires a good grasp on the current agricultural transition and associated challenges faced by farm businesses today along with core delivery skills. You will also have excellent knowledge of practical and conventional farming and growing including regenerative and low input agroecological production.You will be responsible for managing and developing an established membership base of clients as well as building and maintaining local networks, projects and initiatives that support and promote profitable and resilient farm businesses producing food in a sustainable way. You will demonstrate an ability to manage and develop a wide range of farm business and estate relationships.A confident communicator and relationship builder are therefore essential advisory skills.You will work with land managers, farmers and industry professionals – facilitating groups of people at individual and landscape scale events and workshops to share knowledge and best practice. Accomplished project management skills and an ability to prioritise work streams towards successful implementation and delivery are highly desirable.Essential CredentialsSector knowledge or experience within Agriculture and or EnvironmentEducated to degree level in related fields or relevant experienceGood working knowledge of Countryside Stewardship and SFI (Sustainable Farming Incentive)Scheme Application ProcessUnderstanding of E.L.M.S, Environmental Policy and associated subsidy systemsExcellent report writing and tender response skillsGood computer and IT skills including MS Office, Mapinfo or Mapmaker/GIS softwareDemonstrate good ability to prioritise, organise and general management.Ability to work collaboratively and independentlyA full driving licence and the use of your own car are essentialDesirableSoil/AgronomyFACTS and or BASIS qualifications are desirable but not essentialEnvironmental Survey ExperienceProject ManagementGIS literacyOpportunity for Training and Development for sector specific skills and qualifications offered internally.
