Office Attendance: Minimum one day per month in Shrewsbury.

Pay: £32.45 per hour PAYE Contract: Initial 3-month contract with rolling extensions.

Potential to become permanent.

Hours: 37 hours per week The Role We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join a Development Management Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Town Planner to manage a varied caseload of complex and major planning applications within one of England's largest rural authorities.

You will assess planning applications, provide professional planning advice, present reports to Planning Committee and manage planning appeals, working closely with applicants, consultees, elected Members and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities Assess and determine complex and major planning applications.

Prepare detailed reports and recommendations.

Present planning applications to Planning Committee.

Provide professional planning advice to applicants and stakeholders.

Liaise with statutory consultees, Members and the public.

Attend site visits, liaison meetings and committee meetings.

Manage planning appeals where required.

Ensure decisions are made in accordance with national and local planning policy.

Essential Requirements Applicants must have: MRTPI status.

Degree (and ideally postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline.

Extensive experience dealing with complex and major planning applications.

Experience presenting planning applications to Planning Committee.

Experience working within a local authority planning environment.

Strong knowledge of planning legislation and development management.

Experience working within a complex rural planning authority, particularly one operating without a five-year housing land supply.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
