About the role

We are working with an established property management business to appoint an experienced Credit Controller. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full credit control function across the client's residential property portfolio, driving collections, reducing arrears and bringing consistency and structure to the payment cycle.The RoleYou will provide a complete credit control service across the portfolio, taking responsibility for collections, reporting and the smooth running of the function. A key early objective is aligning all payment dates to a single fixed monthly date across the entire portfolio.Collections & ArrearsManage the full collections cycle - chasing customers by phone, letter and email through first, second and final reminder stages.Progress accounts to legal action where required, including serving relevant notices for rent arrears and chasing former customer debts.Prepare paperwork for court hearings and instruct bailiffs or solicitors to recover outstanding debt.Raise purchase orders and approve related invoices for instructed works.Handle enquiries relating to arrears and cases where customers are unable to pay, respecting confidentiality throughout.Liaise with Property Managers during the collection process.Lettings - New Lets, Renewals & ExitsCalculate payment dates and pro-rata charges for the sales teams.Check, post and report on unposted charges; raise routine and ad-hoc invoices.Maintain the renewals tracker and confirm renewals are clear to proceed before lease execution.Reconcile accounts at tenancy end and keep customer records, contact details and lease copies up to date on the system.BankingIdentify overpayments and instruct refunds or reallocation of funds.Reallocate receipts within the ledger and assist with receipting and bank reconciliations when required.ReportingProduce weekly aged debtor reports with commentary.Prepare aged debt and collection reports for monthly and quarterly investor reporting packs.Review bad debts with the accountant and asset managers to inform quarterly provisions and write-offs.Managing the FunctionOversee the credit control function, setting and reporting on departmental KPIs.Identify service and efficiency improvements and keep team procedures aligned to compliance and best practice.Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.About YouEssentialA genuine understanding of and commitment to property services and managing third-party customer relationships.Self-motivated, with high energy, enthusiasm and a strong customer-care ethic.Takes ownership of their own actions, learning and development, maintaining high levels of integrity.Committed to equality, diversity and treating everyone fairly.DesirableKnowledge and experience of using Qube.
