General Summary
The Quality Engineer shall manage, and coordinate Quality Assurance activities in support of project execution in accordance with the company’s quality management system, across products that are manufactured, assembled, and serviced within the Glasgow (Cathcart) facility. Working in accordance with company policies and procedures to meet external regulations to deliver standards such as ISO 9001, DEF‑STAN and ASME Certificates of Authorisation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Quality reviews of contract‑specific requirements at tender and order execution phases.
- Communicate effectively Quality requirements and expectations to functional areas with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. review meetings, order review documents and quality plans).
- Coordinate with internal departments to define and resolve product quality problems and provide advice, guidance and support on aspects and matters concerning Quality.
- Develop internal processes for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Product Part Approval Process (PPAP), and First Article Inspection (FAIR).
- Lead negotiation of Quality standards with customers in creation and acceptance of Quality Plans/ITP’s.
- Coordinate with external customers and vendors to ensure clear and concise understanding of Quality requirements.
- Support Quality initiatives and continuous improvement, promoting widespread acceptance and adoption of best practice.
- Create, review and issue technical documentation for customer acceptance in support of project execution.
- Support the development of Quality procedures and standards and update quality procedures as standards change.
- Conduct audits in accordance with the applicable audit programs for Cathcart.
- Lead product or process‑related incident investigations, ensuring lessons are established, learned, and implemented.
- Maintain highly professional conduct.
- Assume personal ownership for delivery of challenging tasks and projects.
- Own project NCRs through to closure, prior to goods shipment.
- Support EHS requirements as applicable through project execution and facility needs.
Additional Responsibilities

- Perform all duties in accordance with the Company’s procedures to deliver and maintain the highest standards of ethical behaviours and be a role model.

- Establish self as a subject‑matter expert with customers and experts in the designated technical/professional discipline.
- Employees are expected to work whatever reasonable hours are necessary to meet the requirements of their job.
- Travel and additional duties may be required on an ad hoc basis, so flexibility is required.

Education, Skills and Experience
- University or College Degree in Engineering or Quality Management, or significant relevant industry experience.
- Experience with ISO 9001, API, DEF‑STAN’s, NQA‑1, ASME Codes and Standards, RCC‑M, ASNT‑TC‑1A and EN ISO 9712.
- Technical competence for review of ISO/ASTM/DEF STAN Standards and customer specifications.
- Basic knowledge of HSEQ Standards.
- Continual improvement experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment.
- High level of computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and oral communication, influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Technical competence in leading the development of APQP, PPAP, FAIR, control plans, PFMEA processes (advantageous).
- Knowledge of Measuring System Analysis (MSA) (advantageous).
- Willingness to occasionally travel and spending time away from home; full UK driving licence.
You must have a valid right to work in the UK and be able to obtain security clearance to apply for this role.

Physical Demands
- Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).
- Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Required daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).
- Required occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate.
- Required occasionally to travel (usually by air or road – may be required to sit for extended periods).
Working Conditions
- Ability to work with moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers).
- Ability to work in an open planned office / individual office.
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
- Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
