Planning the work that keeps the network running
We are recruiting a Maintenance Planner to support the effective delivery of Network Maintenance activity at Northern Gas Networks (NGN). The role focuses on building and managing planning schedules that support productivity across the Network Maintenance teams.
You will play a key part in enabling the delivery of core workloads, including the Annual Maintenance Plan (AMP), Pressure Management fault activity, System Control faults and wider Capital Project work.
Working closely with fellow Planners, operational teams and key stakeholders, you will coordinate priorities, manage your workload effectively and balance short-term demands with longer-term planning requirements to meet both individual and team targets.
The role operates Monday to Friday, with core working hours between 07:00 and 19:00. Full training will be provided.
In this role you will
Develop and manage planning schedules across E&I, Mechanical and Pipeline activities (including Site Pride), with a clear understanding of workload scope and delivery requirements
Work with the Site Manager to identify and schedule appropriate manpower, materials, equipment and other resources
Ensure maintenance activities are planned safely, efficiently and cost?effectively
Support schedule execution by monitoring real?time progress, managing work orders and responding to issues to maintain productivity
Manage System Control/Dispatch faults in line with company SLAs, using MI reporting to identify priorities and areas of concern
Produce and present MI reports, contributing to regular meetings with Maintenance, System Control and Pressure Management teams
Raise work orders accurately, maintaining strong data integrity and understanding its impact on RRP
Apply and maintain Maintenance Strategies, including creation, amendment and deactivation where required
Support to the Maintenance Site Manager –
Support procurement activities, including raising POs, goods receipting and securing E&R resources for planned work
Arrange site access with third parties and plan non?work time activities such as training, testing and health assessments
Monitor and approve time?off requests, including annual leave, lieu time and standby rota
We are looking for
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across different disciplines and levels within NGN
Experience using SAP S/4HANA
A clear understanding of individual responsibilities, team objectives and priorities, with awareness of cost and performance impact
Previous experience using the MRS Scheduling Tool
An understanding of capital project planning, enabling effective coordination alongside operational maintenance activity
