Health and Safety Compliance Officer Waste Services Location: Rugby Pay Rate: £17.59 £20.66 per hour Contract: Full-time, 3 months initially Role Overview We are seeking a proactive Health and Safety Compliance Officer to support safe, compliant waste and recycling operations.

This is a hands-on role involving site inspections, operational monitoring, and working closely with frontline teams to promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation (HASAWA, COSHH, RIDDOR) Develop and review risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work Conduct depot inspections, ride-alongs, and operational audits Use CCTV to monitor safety, investigate incidents, and identify improvements (GDPR compliant) Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions Deliver toolbox talks and support staff training Monitor vehicle and equipment safety, including high-risk activities Oversee contractor H&S compliance Maintain records, analyse trends, and report on performance Promote positive safety behaviours across teams Requirements Essential: Experience in a health & safety role within a xwzovoh high-risk environment Knowledge of UK H&S legislation Experience with risk assessments and incident investigations Strong communication and ability to influence frontline staff Full UK driving licence and own vehicle Desirable: Waste services or local government experience NEBOSH General Certificate CCTV monitoring/investigation experience
