Qualified Social Worker – Children’s Services

Location: Knowsley (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
Pay Rate: Up to £31.12 per hour
Contract Type: Full-time Locum
Knowsley Council is seeking an experienced and committed Qualified Social Worker to join its Children’s Services team on a full-time locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive local authority that is dedicated to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families.
About the Role
You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The role involves managing a varied caseload, undertaking assessments, developing care plans, and working collaboratively with families and partner agencies to ensure positive, sustainable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake child and family assessments in line with statutory guidance
*
Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective interventions
*
Develop and implement care and support plans
*
Attend and contribute to case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required
*
Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals to safeguard children
*
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records

Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid role, offering a healthy work-life balance with three days based in the office and two days working from home.
Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work qualification

Registration with Social Work England
*
Previous experience within children’s social care
*
Strong assessment and analytical skills
*
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
