Mainstream Teaching Assistant – Additional Needs Support Location: Newport, South Wales Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:00 (Term Time Only) Contract Type: Fixed-Term (with the potential to extend) Join Our Dedicated Team We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant secondary school community in Newport. This rewarding role involves working within a mainstream classroom setting, providing individual and small group support to students with additional learning needs including: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Global Developmental Delay Prader-Willi Syndrome This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, supporting their academic, emotional, and social development. What You'll Be Doing Assisting the class teacher in delivering a supportive and inclusive learning environment Providing tailored support to students with additional needs Helping to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies Encouraging independence, engagement, and confidence in the classroom Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families ✅ What We're Looking For Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (essential) Understanding of conditions such as autism, ADHD, and Prader-Willi Syndrome (desirable) A calm, nurturing approach with excellent communication skills Flexibility, teamwork, and a genuine passion for inclusive education Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or willingness to work towards) ✅ Job requirements: Evidence of right to work in the UK Must possess an Enhanced Child only DBS Certificate Registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) At least two professional references covering 24 months Why chose to work with Teaching: Here at Teaching Personnel, you will be allocated a dedicated consultant who will strive to find you a position which perfectly suits your every need.
