Our client is a leading Skip Hire and Waste Management company serving South Yorkshire, with a strong reputation for reliability, efficiency, and exceptional customer service. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to lead their transport operation and ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of services.

The Role
As Transport Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of a fleet of 30 vehicles, including 24 HGVs, ensuring compliance with all transport legislation while maximising fleet utilisation and operational efficiency.
You will lead and support the transport function, managing key members of the operational team, including the Route Planner and the Weighbridge Administration & Compliance Team, ensuring the business delivers an outstanding service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Hold full responsibility for the company's Operator Licence and transport compliance.
* Manage the daily operation of a fleet of 30 vehicles, including 24 HGVs.
* Ensure full compliance with DVSA, OCRS, Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive and Operator Licence requirements.
* Lead, motivate and develop the Route Planner and Weighbridge Administration & Compliance team.
* Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, servicing and defect reporting.
* Monitor fleet performance, driver productivity and operational KPIs.
* Optimise routes and vehicle utilisation to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
* Work closely with operational teams to ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
* Promote a strong culture of health, safety and compliance throughout the transport operation.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Transport Manager who can confidently balance operational excellence with commercial awareness.
You'll ideally have:
* A valid National CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) – essential.
* Previous Transport Management experience within waste management, skip hire, recycling, aggregates, construction, logistics, or another fast-paced multi-vehicle operation.
* Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
* Experience managing HGV fleets and transport teams.
* Excellent leadership and people management skills.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
* The confidence to make decisions in a busy operational environment.
* A proactive, hands-on management style with excellent communication skills.
