About the role
A leading tier-1 professional services firm is expanding its AI and Data Science consulting practice, following significant team growth and increased demand for machine learning and AI model development and validation services. The Assistant Manager role will appeal to data scientists and ML engineers with a minimum of two years’ post-graduate experience who are ready to take responsibility for model development, tool-building, and technical validation across a variety of client-facing and internal projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning models for internal and external clients
- Deliver technical validation of AI models, including LLM and agentic frameworks
- Contribute to both development and validation workstreams within the AI & Data team
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate solutions
- Collaborate across project teams to deliver impactful, innovative solutions
- Maintain high coding standards (primarily Python) and leverage cloud compute platforms as required
- Ensure clear reporting on project progress and effective task management within wider team
- Support knowledge sharing and continual improvement within a collaborative, fast-growing practice
Experience Required:
- At least 2 years’ post-graduate professional experience in machine learning or data science roles (education not counted towards experience)
- Expertise in development of machine learning models (not purely pipelines or dashboards)
- Strong Python programming skills, including use of key ML libraries/packages
- Practical experience with one or more cloud compute platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
- Demonstrable exposure to LLMs, agentic frameworks, or technical model validation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Evidence of working effectively within wider project teams
Desirable:
- Prior experience in a consulting environment
- Exposure to a range of AI use cases (e.G. image recognition, GAI-based, agentic models)
- Experience supporting internal tooling projects or validation in regulated environments
- Familiarity with project management tools or methodologies
