£13.40 - £13.70 per hour
2 shifts per week Fri/Sat (10:30am – 5:30pm)

Aston House is a small, family-run mental health care home in Herefordshire. We’re currently looking to expand our team with dedicated workers who are passionate about supporting adults with mental health needs.

Experience is preferred but not essential – full training will be provided for the right candidates.

What We’re Looking For
- Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs for older adults, including modified diets (e.g., diabetic, low-salt, pureed)
·     Ability to plan and prepare balanced meals that meet residents’ preferences and health requirements.
·     Food hygiene and safety certification , such as Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
·     Good organisational and time management skills to prepare meals on schedule.
·     Ability to manage kitchen operations , including stock control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
·     Excellent communication skills to liaise with care staff, residents, and colleagues.
·     Ability to liaise effectively with the other cook to ensure smooth kitchen operations and menu consistency.
·     Assist in reviewing and defining revised menu options that are cost-effective, home-cooked, and nutritious .
·     Teamworking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen assistants and care staff.
·     Physical stamina for standing for long periods and performing manual tasks. Requirements
Desirable Requirements:
·    Food hygiene and safety certification , such as Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
·    Experience preparing meals for people with dementia or swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) .
·     Menu planning skills with an emphasis on variety, nutrition, and presentation.
·    Knowledge of budgeting and portion control .
·    Compassionate, patient, and resident-focused attitude
