Gardener Location: Epping, Essex, with travel across the surrounding area Salary: £27,700 per annum (with potential to earn up to 15% annual performance bonus) Full-Time | Permanent Benefits Performance-related bonus of up to 15% of annual salary 7% employer pension contribution Private healthcare Life insurance (4x annual salary) 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays Ongoing training and development opportunities Uniform, PPE and equipment provided Supportive team environment with opportunities for progression About the Role We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Gardener to join our growing Grounds Maintenance team, delivering high-quality gardening and landscaping services across Waltham Abbey and the wider Epping area. This is a hands-on outdoor role suited to someone who enjoys working in green spaces, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is committed to providing excellent service. You'll work as part of a supportive team helping to maintain attractive, safe and well-presented environments for our customers and communities. Key Responsibilities Carry out general grounds maintenance activities, including: Grass cutting Hedge trimming Pruning Weeding Shrub and border maintenance Undertake horticultural tasks to maintain landscaped areas to a high standard Apply pesticides and herbicides safely and in accordance with relevant regulations (where qualified) Operate, maintain and care for gardening machinery, tools and vehicles Complete work efficiently and to agreed schedules and quality standards Follow all health and safety procedures and safe working practices Report maintenance issues, defects and potential hazards Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to the team About You We are looking for someone who is: Positive, dependable and hardworking Passionate about outdoor work and gardening Able to carry out the physical demands of grounds maintenance work Organised with good time management skills Professional in their approach and communication Able to work independently and as part of a team Committed to delivering excellent standards of work Essential Requirements Full UK driving licence Ability to work outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions Good understanding of health and safety practices Desirable Skills and Experience Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening or landscaping PA1 and PA6 qualifications (or equivalent) Experience using: Ride-on mowers Strimmers Hedge cutters Leaf blowers Other grounds maintenance equipment Experience operating ride-on machinery such as Ransomes Highway 3 mowers Soft landscaping experience including planting and garden improvements Basic IT skills, including use of mobile devices and email Additional Information The successful applicant will be required to undergo a DBS check.
