Principal Technologist

Principal Technologist - Contract We are seeking a hands‑on Principal Technologist to support a major UK Government programme, focused on legacy IT remediation and modernisation. This is a senior technical role where you'll be actively designing, prototyping, and delivering solutions-not just defining strategy. You'll work closely with engineering teams to rapidly test ideas, refine approaches, and implement practical improvements across complex systems. Key Experience Required Strong hands‑on engineering / development background Proven experience building and prototyping technical solutions Experience working across large‑scale or enterprise systems Ability to work at pace, iterate quickly, and lead technical delivery Comfortable assessing multiple approaches and driving the best outcome Contract Details Rate: £800 per day (Inside IR35) Duration: 12 months Location: London, Bristol, or Manchester (Hybrid) Clearance: BPSS minimum (SC preferred)If you're a technically strong problem‑solver who enjoys fixing real issues in complex environments, please get in touch for more details
