Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Our client is seeking a passionate and dynamic Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who is driven by curiosity & precision, who takes an innovative & inquisitive approach & who has the capacity to ‘think outside the box’ to solve problems. This is your opportunity to work on varied & intellectually demanding projects. In this role you will be responsible for product design, development, and detailing utilizing CAD software, calculations, Projects specific areas, machines, technologies and working in close collaboration with Project Engineers to reach assigned targets. Being accountable for the completion of 3D modelling, detail design, technical calculations, and product development as assigned by management utilizing the internal software and tools. Responsibility for assigned portion of product design and development process, ensuring project schedules are maintained while following the Company standards. Developing the layout of areas of equipment, proposal layout, basic engineering of new mechanical equipment based on Customer requests. Carrying out complex mechanical calculations. Participating in commercial / technical (basic and detail design) meetings worldwide. This will involve customer interaction and other business units such as Civil, Piping, Automation Assisting Purchasing, Manufacturing, Erection and Commissioning Departments during handling of developed engineering where necessary Continuous monitoring on project progress, identify any areas of concern, escalating where necessary and managing customer expectations Supporting sales activities through drawing/document creation and on-site reverse engineering of products. Liaising with representatives from suppliers during technical evaluations of project solutions. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. Proven experience in 2D and 3D CAD required ( Autodesk Inventor an advantage but not essential) within an OEM structured engineering department Knowledge of metallurgy, material science, heat treatment; specific knowledge in cutting, welding, heat treatment and machining Mechanical calculations (NX, MathCAD, Microsoft Excel) - mechanics, stress calculation, resolution of forces, beam calculation. Free reading of design/technical documentation Relevant experience in heavy engineering and structural design. Fabrication design, welded joint selection, and correct use of welding symbols. Design for large, machined components including tolerance selection, limits and fits. Design of original machines considering for correct assembly and maintenance. Production of clear concise working engineering drawings, accurate bills of material and arrangement drawings. To operate freely with international documentation: technical books, standards, catalogues etc (AutoCAD, Inventor) Work in international groups with ability to communicate both verbally and written and work within a worldwide team environment. Ability to prioritise workload, on-time delivery and deliver on-time results to Company standards whilst working on multiple projects. Experience undertaking structured writing in the form of technical reports. Available for regular business travel (worldwide)
