About the role
We are recruiting a Temporary Registered Manager on behalf of an established Children's Residential Service in the Cardiff area. The successful candidate will oversee a short-term assessment home supporting vulnerable children and young people, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care and full compliance with regulatory standards.
In this role, you will:
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring children and young people receive safe, supportive, and trauma-informed care. You will work closely with staff, social workers, health professionals, and other stakeholders to support assessment placements and achieve positive outcomes for young people. You will also play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, driving service improvements, and creating a positive and nurturing environment for both residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the residential service, providing strong operational management and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment
Maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring the home meets all standards under The Regulated Services Regulations
Oversee assessment placements, supporting young people for up to 12 weeks while identifying suitable long-term pathways
Manage multidisciplinary collaboration, working closely with social workers, health teams, and education professionals
Drive service development, leading improvements, implementing change, and embedding trauma-informed practice
Provide on-call support as part of the management rota to ensure consistent leadership outside office hoursKey Requirements
Level 5 Leadership Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People's Registered Management)
Registration with Social Care Wales
Significant experience managing residential childcare services
Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and mediation skills
Proven ability to lead change and drive service improvement
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.Contract Type: Temporary (3-6 months with expectation of an extension)
Pay Rate: £22.00
Working pattern - 37 hours per week, onsite
