About the role
Science Teacher
Prospero Teaching is looking to connect with qualified Science Teachers (QTS) who are interested in exploring new opportunities in the Portsmouth area for a September start. Whether you're actively looking or simply open to a move, we would be keen to speak with you.
We work closely with a range of secondary schools across Portsmouth who regularly look to secure strong Science specialists ahead of the new academic year. Once registered, we can support you in finding a role that matches your subject specialism, experience, and career goals.
You will have the opportunity to teach Science across KS3 and KS4, with flexibility across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science, depending on the role secured.
The Role:
Teach Science across KS3 and KS4
Deliver engaging lessons in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science
Plan and deliver structured lessons
Mark work, assess progress, and provide feedback
Support pupils of mixed abilities to achieve strong outcomes
Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement
Contribute to departmental and whole‑school activities
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong subject knowledge in Science
Confident classroom practitioner
Effective behaviour management skills
Organised and committed to high standards
Open to exploring opportunities across different school settings
Suitable for experienced teachers and ECTs
Contract Details:
Position: Science Teacher (QTS)
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: September
Working Pattern: Full‑time
Pay Rate: £32,916 - £51,047 per annum (M1-U3)
Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
QTS required
Secondary Science teaching experience preferred
Safeguarding training can be provided
