Join our team

We are looking for a Housing Solutions Assistant to join our Housing Solutions team.
If you share our values and you are motivated to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

In this role, you will be the first point of contact for people who approach the council for housing help. You will assess their situation, give basic housing advice and make sure each case is passed to the right officer.

You will handle financial tasks linked to homelessness, including making agreed payments. You will keep accurate records, update the homelessness system and maintain a good understanding of housing law, welfare benefits and the local private rented market.

You will work closely with colleagues across the council and with external partners such as social care, probation and housing providers.

You may also be asked to support the councils emergency response arrangements when required.

About you

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of housing and welfare issues, strong problemsolving skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a wide range of people.

You will be able to manage a busy and varied workload, work independently and respond calmly to challenging situations.

You will demonstrate that you can act with fairness, empathy and professionalism, maintain accurate records and work well with colleagues and partners to deliver a highquality service.
