We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our busy team at Morecambe Urgent Treatment Centre.
Post: Health Care Assistant Morecambe Urgent Treatment Centre
Operates: The service operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 08:00 20:00.
Hours: 4 week rolling rota. 11.5 and 7.5 hour shifts to be worked. Flexibility is essential for offering availability to cover sickness & annual leave.
Pay: £13.26 per hour. We provide enhancements for Saturdays / Sundays and
Bank Holidays.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will undertake a range of clinical duties including venepuncture, ECGs, wound care, observations, and applying plaster of paris to patients with fractures and personal care to patients.
The post holder will also contribute to administrative, reception/floorwalker and housekeeping duties within the service location.
The post holder must have NVQ level 2 minimum in Health & Social Care and be willing to be upskilled to be an Urgent Care Health Care Assistant or alternatively hold a Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care. A period of shadowing / training will be provided.

Job description
Post holder will ensure prompt reporting of any relevant information regarding patients including observation of progress or deterioration in the patients condition to the trained staff
Endeavour to maintain good standards of communication both in written and oral form
Make entries on patient records to record clinical interventions
Make entries in the clinical notes using the service areas computer programme ADASTRA
Communicate with patients and carers in a polite and pleasant manner
Receive and deliver patient related information to and from other departments via the telephone/ emails
Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language, and emotion
May be required to encourage patients to comply with programmes of care
Initiate emergency action when required
Obtain and dispatch specimens on request
Undertake routine administration and reception duties
Assist walk in patients using our self-assessment device ED Streamer
Assist in the ordering and supplying of materials and equipment
Inform the Nurse in Charge of any untoward incidents on shift
Take responsibility for the cleaning and stocking of clinical areas
Dispose of clinical waste in a safe manner for each clinical room
Contribute to infection control measures by adhering to infection control policies/procedures

Education and In Service Training
Be fully conversant in all the clinical computer systems used within Morecambe Urgent Treatment Centre
Attend relevant study/induction days, seminars, courses etc. for individual development and for the benefit of the service. Keep up to date with compliance and mandatory training.
