Renewable Energy Investment Banking - Associate Director

Profile Summary

Augusta & Co, part of the Mizuho Group, is a leading specialist financial advisory firm focused on the renewable energy and energy transition sectors. We advise developers, utilities, infrastructure funds and investors on M&A, capital raising and strategic transactions across Europe. We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to play a leading role in the origination and execution of complex advisory mandates, supporting clients throughout all stages of the transaction lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with senior bankers on business development initiatives, lead and mentor junior team members, and deliver high-quality financial analysis, transaction documentation and client advice. The role offers significant exposure to senior industry stakeholders and provides the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth and success of the firm's renewable energy and energy transition practice.

You will work closely with the senior team of Managing Directors and Partners to generate and execute opportunities, assisting them in all marketing, origination and execution activities.

Overview

These roles will involve you in every aspect of our M&A transactions and involve the following key responsibilities:

• Lead the deal and take responsibility for the crafting and delivery of advice we provide our clients across quity and debt mandates.
• In coordination with our junior team, review and stress-test financial models used for both sell- and buy-side mandates as well as translating financial analysis into strategic advice for our clients.
• Lead a team of junior bankers in drafting investment memoranda, management presentations and other deal marketing documents
• Lead in the co-ordination of due diligence activities. You will be hands-on across the entire execution process including co-ordinating workstreams with other advisors.
• Lead the negotiation and execution of all transaction documents including SPAs, Holdco debt facilities and joint venture agreements.

Additionally, you will be expected to drive and support:

• Firm-wide marketing activities including drafting pitches and assisting with ideas generation.
• Building and strengthening relationships with new and existing clients.
• The supervision and training of junior bankers.
• The hiring of new bankers and support staff.
• Franchise enhancement. This involves finding ways to leverage Augusta and its reputation to identify new clients in new markets and technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supporting Senior bankers in their outreach and origination efforts with existing and prospective clients
• Managing and overseeing junior resources responsible for the preparation of key transaction marketing materials (information memorandum, process letter, financial model etc.)
• Assisting in the co-ordination of due diligence activities. You will be hands-on across the entire execution process including co-ordinating workstreams with other advisers
• Advising and supporting clients in negotiation stages of key transactional documents such as sales and purchase agreements and shareholder agreements
• Drafting deal marketing documents as well as internal investment presentations and other client documentation where required
• Firm-wide marketing activities including drafting pitches and building and strengthening relationships with new and existing clients

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have several years of relevant work experience, an excellent academic record and a top university degree. You should be able to demonstrate your deal execution experience and have highly proficient financial modelling and presentation skills. Importantly, you must have a strong track record in closing complex deals and have references to support this.

Experience in the renewables/sustainability, infrastructure, or power generation sectors is preferred as well as an additional European language.

You will be working closely with and report to our Partners in Augusta’s Advisory business.

We offer a lucrative compensation package that will include a base salary, annual discretionary cash bonus, significant pension contribution and potentially a path to the Partnership.

• Skills: excellent analytical skills with robust financial modelling and presentation experience (Microsoft excel and PowerPoint abilities)
• Languages: fluency in English and ideally another European language
