About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development Manager to lead and grow our client portfolio within a specialist consultancy and specialist surveying sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing business opportunities, managing key client relationships, preparing commercial proposals, and supporting company growth through strategic sales activities.
This is an office-based role requiring strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with the ability to coordinate closely with operational and technical teams.
Responsibilities
Sales
• Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve company revenue targets.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within construction, offshore, infrastructure, utilities, and defence sectors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Prepare and present quotations, tenders, and commercial proposals.
• Coordinate with operations and technical teams to ensure accurate project scope and pricing.
• Liaise and coordinate/handover instructed works with the Operations Department
• Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract award.
• Maintain accurate sales records and pipeline reporting using CRM systems.
• Attend client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities as required.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
• Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies and industry regulations.
• Support marketing initiatives and business development campaigns.
• Provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports to senior management.
Required Skills/Qualifications
Essential
• Proven experience in a Sales Manager or Business Development role.
• Strong understanding of B2B sales processes.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
• Experience within the geophysical surveying, construction, offshore, defence, or engineering sectors.
• Knowledge of tendering and commercial contracts.
• Existing industry contacts and client network.
• Understanding of health & safety standards within technical industries
