Technical Lead - Communication Systems

Senior Engineering Lead (Tactical Comms) – Contract Bristol | 3 days onsite | £500–£600/day | Outside IR35 | 12 months This is the role that keeps everything technically honest. You’ll act as the technical authority across a complex MOD programme, ensuring multiple systems, suppliers and architectures actually integrate into something usable. This is not hands-on coding. It’s about technical leadership, assurance and challenge. You’ll be: Setting and guiding technical strategy and architecture Leading design assurance and governance across suppliers Challenging engineering decisions where needed Managing technical risk across a multi-partner environment Acting as the credible voice of engineering with MOD stakeholders The environment is complex, fast-moving and not always clearly defined. You’ll need to be comfortable operating in that. You’ll need: Strong background in defence engineering / systems Experience with tactical communications systems (essential) Ability to act as technical authority across multiple stakeholders Credibility with both engineers and senior military stakeholders Must hold active SC clearance (DV highly desirable) If you’re a senior engineer who can guide, challenge and bring clarity to complex defence systems - this is a high-impact role.
