Tripod are recruiting for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work in the Dagenham area. This is to work in Adult Social Care
Hybrid working
Role – Locum Occupational Therapist
Hours – Full time ideally
Contract Length – Ongoing
To undertake person-centred assessments (as directed by Care Act 2014) utilising Occupational Therapy skills and knowledge to develop and implement a support plan, aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering outcomes for adults and children with disabilities.The post holder will also provide advice on specialist equipment/adaptations and housing needs to improve their health and wellbeing and maximise their independence.
Carry out the Occupational Therapy process in partnership with service users and carers, facilitating choice, empowerment and promoting independence.
# Carry out assessment of need and evaluation of risk in partnership with service users and carers.
# Carry out risk assessment in relation to moving and handling tasks, in partnership with service users and carers.
# Support service users and carers to identify and purchase aids and adaptations and receive support with reference to the Children’s & Families Act 1989 and 2004 and the Care Act 2014.
# working with the statutory, voluntary and private sectors e.g. Social Care Staff, Health Care Professionals, Children’s Services, Housing Teams, Home Improvement Agencies and contractors, to identify and meet service users’ and carers’ needs.
# Through using the wide range of tools and options available, support service users to develop their own support plans using a person-centred approach to determine their goals, aims and objectives and to explore creative ways of meeting their needs.
# Provide both simple and complex equipment and adaptations, reviewing their effectiveness and teaching safe use of equipment to comply with relevant legislation, policy and guidelines on safe working practices.
# Produce Occupational Therapy reports where required.
# Provide case supervision, guidance, support and expert advice to unqualified and other social care staff, newly qualified Occupational Therapists and students where appropriate.
# Undertake project work and complex occupational therapy assessments as directed by the Enabling Independence Team Manager.
# Maintain professional standards in accordance with the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy Practice including regular participation in the local supervision and performance management process and by positively contributing to the Continuing Professional Development of the Occupational Therapy Service.
# Work when required within Community Solutions to provide an assessment and triage function for the Disability Service.
