Senior Engineer, Data Engineering

We are a frontier biology AI lab working at the intersection of AI, experimental biology, and clinical research. We generate our own data in-house, build general-purpose biological foundation models, and translate discoveries into real research and clinical impact through studies we run ourselves. Our focus is understanding the brain, protecting it from neurological disease, and ultimately enhancing it in health. We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help build the backend and cloud systems that bring these models into real-world use. 5% frontend You will work on systems that support large-scale biological datasets, experiment and model lineage tracking, and reproducible research workflows, while ensuring strong performance, reliability, and observability in production. Designing and building APIs for datasets, experiments, and workflows Owning data models, schemas, and system boundaries Building tenant-aware access control and permissions Optimising performance and data integrity in PostgreSQL systems Deploying and operating services in AWS or GCP Building monitoring, logging, and debugging infrastructure Occasionally contributing to React or Next.js frontends This is a role for engineers who enjoy working across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and real product surfaces, especially in complex, data-heavy environments.
