About the role

A highly regarded boutique advisory and tax consultancy is seeking an experienced Tax Director / Head of Tax to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to take on a leadership position within a specialist firm known for delivering high-value advisory services to a diverse client base. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the firm's tax offering, managing client relationships, driving business development, and providing strategic tax advice. The role would particularly suit an experienced tax professional who enjoys building trusted client relationships and wants the autonomy to influence the direction of a growing practice. The Role Reporting directly to the Partners, you will lead the firm's tax function while acting as a trusted advisor to a broad portfolio of clients. This opportunity offers significant autonomy, genuine progression potential, and the ability to influence the future growth of the business. What You Will Do Lead and develop the firm's tax advisory offering. Manage and strengthen relationships with an established portfolio of clients. Provide strategic corporate tax advice across a range of sectors. Advise on R&D Tax Relief claims and innovation-related incentives. Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships. Support business development initiatives and contribute to the firm's growth strategy. Mentor and develop junior members of the team. Work closely with business owners, entrepreneurs and senior stakeholders. Contribute to technical excellence and best practice across the firm. Requirements CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT or equivalent qualification. Strong background in Corporate Tax. Experience within R&D Tax Relief would be highly advantageous. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for clients. Proven ability to build trusted relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders. Previous leadership experience within practice preferred. Industry candidates with strong corporate tax or R&D expertise will also be considered. Strong communication and business development skills. What's the next step?
