Specisications Technologist (entry level FMCG role)

SPECIFICATIONS TECHNOLOGIST JOB PURPOSE Alexander Steele Recruitment is working with a leading UK food manufacturer supplying major retailers, who are seeking a Specifications Technologist to join their Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their food industry career who is passionate about food, quality, and technical processes. The role offers strong exposure to product development, retailer specifications, and wider food manufacturing operations. You will support the creation and maintenance of accurate, compliant food product specifications while working closely with internal teams and gaining valuable customer-facing experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist in creating and maintaining food product specifications, including quality and technical information * Support retailer specification systems, ensuring data is accurate and up to date * Work with Product Development teams during trials, pre-production, and product launches * Ensure specifications are correctly documented, controlled, and compliant * Support internal audit and food safety processes * Liaise with technical, production, and commercial teams to understand product requirements * Provide general technical and administrative support to the specifications function ABOUT YOU * Some experience in a food manufacturing, technical, or quality-related role is preferred but not essential * Strong interest in food production, quality, and technical standards * Basic understanding of HACCP and food safety principles (or willingness to develop) * GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent * Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude * Eager to learn and develop a career in the food industry BENEFITS * Training and development support for progression in the food industry * Staff discount shop with site-produced food products * Opportunity to build technical experience in a leading food manufacturing environment HOW TO APPLY To apply, please submit your CV to Alexander Steele Recruitment for consideration
