We are seeking to recruit a Line Pilot to join our team, who, under the direction of a Chief Pilot, will be responsible for the command and operation of one of our Airbus H145 D3 helicopters. Unlike most other air ambulances in the UK, we directly employ pilots to fly the helicopters under our own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).

About the RoleLocation: Floater Line Pilot between Nostell ASU, Foulby, near Wakefield, and RAF Topcliffe near Thirsk.
Hours: A fixed roster - at Topcliffe, it's a 12 hour shift from 07:00 to 19:00 (3 days on, 3 days off). At Nostell it's either a variable nine hour shift to cover the operations period between 07:00 and 01:00 Monday to Friday, or a 12 hour shift between 09:00 and 21:00 at the weekends. Occasional variations to this pattern may be requested, but duty time will never be more than as permitted under the approved FLT scheme.
Role Purpose: To carry out line flying duties as requested by Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
Salary: Starting salary of £81,725 p.a.
Key Responsibilities and Duties- As aircraft commander, ensure all flying tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the Charity's Operations Manual, and relevant regulations such as the Air Navigation Order and CAA.
- Manage and organise the Operating Base during duty periods; brief crews on their HEMS responsibilities and maintain the high personal and professional standards expected from any employee of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
- Maintain personal currency in all respects with regard to Flight Crew License, Aircrew Medical, License Proficiency Check, Operator Proficiency Check, Line Check, Emergency & Safety Equipment Check and other required checks before carrying out any flight on behalf of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
- Carry out other duties within normal duty hours, ensuring tasks are reasonable and consistent with the position held.
- Current UK CAA ATPL(H) or CPL(H) with Instrument Rating.
- Minimum 1,500 hours as pilot in command of aircraft.
- Minimum 500 hours as pilot in command of helicopters gained VMC overland with significant low flying experience.
- 40 hours VFR at night as pilot in command.
- CAA Class 1 Medical.
- Live in or prepared to relocate to the Yorkshire region.
- Fluent English, driving licence, passport, right to work in the UK.
- Comfortable with filming and photography for promotional and educational content for YAA, AirTV and other outlets as necessary.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- NVIS experience.
- H145 type rating.
- TRI/TRE qualification.
- Starting salary £81,725 p.a.
