Accountant / Management Accountant

A North Manchester organisation is seeking an Interim Management Accountant to join on a minimum 3-month contract , with strong potential for extension and longer-term opportunity. This is a hands-on role supporting a busy finance function during a period of increased reporting demand and month-end pressure. Key Responsibilities Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) Full ownership of the month-end close process Production and maintenance of balance sheet reconciliations (accruals, prepayments, debtors, creditors, intercompany) Preparation of variance analysis and commentary Support with VAT return preparation and submission Assistance with budgeting and forecasting cycles Liaising with finance and non-finance stakeholders to support reporting requirements Preparation of ad hoc financial analysis and reporting Support with year-end audit preparation and audit queries Continuous improvement of month-end processes and reporting controls Candidate Requirements ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent experience) Strong background in Management Accounting / Financial Reporting Proven experience delivering end-to-end month-end close Strong technical ability with balance sheet control and reconciliations Confident working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems xkybehq / ERPs Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability Details Inside IR35 Minimum 3-month contract with potential extension Immediate start North Manchester on-site working required About the Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to take ownership of core financial processes within a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial control, and timely month-end delivery.
