Field Service Engineer – Physical Security Systems Location: North London / St Albans (M25 corridor) Salary: £38,000 – £40,000 basic + uncapped overtime + on-call allowance OTE: £50,000 – £55,000+ Overview We’re hiring a Field Service Engineer to join a leading UK provider of physical security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles). This is a hands-on field role suited to engineers with experience working on larger machinery, agricultural equipment, or PLC-controlled systems, alongside strong mechanical capability. Key Responsibilities * Install, service and repair security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles) * Fault-find across mechanical and basic electrical/PLC systems * Attend breakdowns and support reactive maintenance * Participate in on-call rota (1 in 5 → 1 in 6) * Complete digital job reports and liaise with clients on-site * Travel regionally with occasional overnight stays Requirements * Strong mechanical engineering background (essential) * Experience with larger machinery / plant / agricultural equipment / PLC-controlled systems * Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. 3-phase, 24v systems, 18th Edition desirable) * Full UK driving licence * Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and in confined spaces * Flexible for travel, overtime and weekends Mandatory Security & Clearance (Non-Negotiable) * Right to work in the UK (documentation required) * 5 years continuous UK residency * 5 years continuous employment history (fully traceable) * No criminal convictions * British passport required Applications not meeting ALL criteria cannot be considered.
