About the role
At Smile Education, we are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Bilston area. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with pupils aged 11–18 who have a range of additional needs, delivering engaging and tailored lessons that support both academic progress and personal development.

Role Details
Start Date: After May half term, continuing until the summer holidays
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Days: Full-time (5 days per week), with flexibility to consider 4 days for the right candidate
Class Size: Maximum of 15 students
Support: Strong SLT presence and daily support, alongside experienced TA support
Key Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons tailored to students with SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, and visual impairments.
Take full responsibility for teaching, planning, and marking, while also working collaboratively with the wider department.
Differentiate lessons effectively to meet a range of abilities rather than age groups, with class sizes of up to 15 students.
Work closely with Teaching Assistants, including 1:1 support staff and general classroom TAs, to maximise student progress.
Create a positive and structured learning environment that supports behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing.
Occasionally provide cover for other subjects where required (minimal requirement).
Monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to support individual learning needs.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Open to ECTs with QTS.
Experience teaching History, RE, or Geography is highly desirable.
Previous experience working within an SEN setting or supporting additional needs is advantageous.
Strong understanding of supporting students with Autism, ADHD, and visual impairments.
A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to different classroom situations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A valid DBS on the Update Service is required or willing to apply for a new DBS through Smile Education.
