Job Purpose To provide high-quality, person-centred support to children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Learning Disabilities (LD), and Care/Leaving Care backgrounds.

The Support Worker will promote independence, emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive outcomes while maintaining a nurturing and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities Provide direct support and care to children and young people in line with individual care/support plans Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect, and consistency Support emotional regulation and behaviour management using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches Assist with daily living tasks, routines, and personal care where required Promote independence, confidence, and life skills development Support with education, appointments, activities, and community engagement Implement behaviour support plans and de-escalation strategies Maintain accurate daily records, incident reports, and safeguarding documentation Work collaboratively with families, social workers, schools, and external professionals Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times Support young people transitioning from care towards independent living Encourage positive social interaction, healthy routines, and emotional wellbeing Essential Requirements Previous experience supporting children/young people with EBD, Autism, LD, or Care Experience Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures Knowledge of behaviour support / de-escalation strategies Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Flexible to work shifts, weekends, xwzovoh sleep-ins, and waking nights where required Full UK Driving Licence (preferred/essential depending on service) Right to work in the UK Desirable Qualifications NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care / Children & Young People Team Teach / PMVA / MAPA / CPI Training Safeguarding Training First Aid / Medication Administration Training Personal Qualities Compassionate and empathetic Reliable and professional Resilient and emotionally mature Patient and understanding Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
