About the role

Sense has a fantasticopportunity for someone to join our team as our PR Manager. This is a full time, permanent, hybrid role, working 37.5 hours per week at our officein Kings Cross, London.

The role is responsible for line-managing two Senior PR Officers and sits within the Media & Campaigns team, as part of the Social Change directorate. The team works closely with colleagues in Digital Engagement, Policy & Research, Stories, Co-production, and Brand & Content.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating the charitys PR strategy; securing high-profile, impactful media coverage that helps raise the profile of its cause, increase understanding of the issues facing disabled people with complex needs, shapes public debate and builds support for change.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of Media & Campaigns to develop the PR strategy, leading on the delivery of high-profile press coverage, in line with strategic objectives.
  • Lead the management of the press office, ensuring its setup to identify and capitalise on opportunities as they arise.
  • Lead the team in securing press coverage that aligns with the charitys strategic objectives, prioritising key projects and campaigns.
  • Ensure press releases, statements and articles are written to a high quality and are consistent in messaging.
  • Deliver impactful PR coverage to promote our key campaigns and influencing areas, working closely with the Campaigns and Policy teams.
  • Secure high-profile press coverage for Senses positions on policy, and impactful features on Sense services and programmes.

Key skills and experience

  • 4 years + in PR, or a relevant communications role.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing or working in busy a press office.
  • Demonstrable experience in implementing effective communication plans and securing press coverage across a range of titles and audiences.
  • Experience of developing collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A high level of communication skills, with the ability to understand and communicate complex information in an understandable and accessible format.
  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships with other staff and external stakeholders.
  • Able to manage and prioritise the work of a team.
  • Able to operate in a fast paced, multi-stakeholder environment - comfortable working across a diverse range of issues, stories and campaigns simultaneously.
