Residential Team Leader (Children’s Home) Ilford, East London Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people? We are seeking experienced and motivated Team Leaders to join our Children’s Residential Home in Ilford. This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a team of Support Workers, champion high‑quality care, and directly influence positive outcomes for children and young people. Salary: £14.00 - 15.00 per hour (paid monthly) Working Hours: Shift based role operating on a rolling rota (Mon - Sun) Day shifts: (8:00am - 8:30pm) Waking Night shifts: (8:00pm - 8:30am) Flexibility throughout the week is essential Personal Specification: Essential: * Minimum 6+ months experience in a childcare or residential setting * Ability to act as an advocate for young people * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) * Confidence in leading a team during shifts and modelling best practice * Ability to make informed, safe decisions in line with policies and risk assessment Desirable: * Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) * Previous experience supervising staff or leading shifts * High level of professional integrity, reliability, and accountability Your role: As a Team Leader you will play a key role in ensuring the home runs smoothly & safely. Your duties will include: Leadership: * Leading shifts and providing clear direction to Support Workers * Ensuring consistent, high‑quality care is delivered at all times * Supporting staff with guidance, coaching, and positive role‑modelling * Allocating tasks, monitoring performance, and promoting teamwork-quality care Young People Care Practice: * Acting as a key worker and building positive, trusting relationships * Supporting young people in their daily routines, education, and independence * Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing * Making safe, informed decisions during incidents or challenging situations Safeguarding: * Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed at all times * Maintaining accurate, timely records and completing key administrative duties * Contributing to care planning and supporting young people toward independence * Working collaboratively with social workers, families, and external professionals House Management: * Helping maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised home environment * Sharing household tasks and ensuring the property is well cared for * Overseeing resources, reporting maintenance issues, and supporting daily operations Why Join Us? * Be part of a supportive, dedicated leadership team * Make a meaningful and lasting difference in young people’s lives * Access opportunities for training, development, and career progression * Work in an environment where your contribution is valued * Benefit from a structured rota that supports work life balance Interviews will be held at our Head Office in South Woodford This job description is subject to regular review and is not an exhuastive list.
