Painter and Decorator

We are currently working in partnership with a local authority based in Cardiff, who are recruiting for a Painter on a temporary six-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, with a high likelihood of the contract being extended. The hourly rate of pay is £21.57 with a van being provided following an initial induction. The ideal candidate will have experience working in domestic properties. Duties will include (but are not limited to): * Carrying out internal and external painting and decorating works across a portfolio of domestic council properties, ensuring high-quality finishes in line with void and occupied property standards * Preparing surfaces including stripping, sanding, filling, priming, and making good prior to decoration to ensure durability and compliance with specifications * Applying a range of finishes including emulsion, gloss, satin, and specialist coatings to walls, ceilings, woodwork, and external surfaces * Undertaking external works including masonry painting, fencing, railings, and communal areas, working safely at height where required * Completing wall and floor tiling in kitchens and bathrooms, including surface preparation, adhesive application, grouting, and finishing to a high standard * Delivering planned maintenance and responsive repairs within occupied properties, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining strong customer service * Working across occasional commercial and public buildings (e.g. offices, community centres), adhering to stricter compliance and operational requirements Experience required: * Experience working in domestic properties * Experience in tiling (Beneficial) Skills, knowledge and expertise required: * Painting and decorating (domestic properties are preferred) * Tiling (Advantageous) Rewards and Benefits: * Vehicle provided after induction Working hours: * 37 hours per week * Monday – Thursday, 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-3:30pm Please note that you require recent experience to apply for this role.
