Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £100-£150 per day (depending on experience) Contract: Full-time Location: Lambeth Start Date: ASAP Are you passionate about supporting young children with additional needs and helping them develop, learn, and thrive? We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Primary SEN school in Lambeth. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, nurturing, and experienced in supporting children with complex and varied needs in a specialist setting. About the Role As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and therapists to support pupils across the primary age range. You will help create a structured, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child is supported to reach their individual potential. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a wide range of SEN Support children with needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and learning disabilities Assist with the delivery of tailored lessons, sensory activities, and personalised learning programmes Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, calm, and engaging classroom environment Assist with personal care where required, in line with school policies Prepare learning resources and contribute to EHCP targets and classroom planning Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families What We're Looking For Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is essential A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt support to individual needs Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team A proactive and flexible attitude A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing What the School Offers A supportive and experienced SEN team Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Supportive leadership with a strong focus on staff wellbeing A welcoming and inclusive school community The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young children APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VERITAS EDUCATION All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained You must have legal right to work in the UK You must be willing to attend a registration interviewVeritas Education work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area.
