About the role
If you’re seeking a senior operational role where your decisions have a real and visible impact on the direction of the business, this is a rare opportunity to join a long-established and highly respected Scottish civil engineering contractor entering an important new phase of growth and development.
With a history spanning more than 60 years, the company has grown steadily from a small family-run business into a trusted delivery partner for civil engineering projects across Ayrshire and Scotland. Their reputation has been built on reliability, long-term relationships, and consistent delivery—not aggressive expansion. Typical projects range from £200k–£300k and include roads, bridges, culverts, safety barriers, and traffic management works.
As the current leadership team plans for succession and the future, they are now looking to appoint a Senior Construction Manager / Operations Manager / General Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations and help shape the next stage of the company’s development.
This is a key leadership role focused on improving efficiency, consistency, and commercial performance across the business.
Lead overall project delivery, ensuring safety, quality, and programme targets are consistently achieved across multiple live sites
Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain and strengthen the company’s long-standing reputation
Drive operational improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance commercial performance
Support and develop contract managers and site teams, building capability and confidence throughout the organisation
Represent the business professionally in all client and external stakeholder interactions
A strong background in civil engineering, ideally within highways, local authority, or infrastructure projects
A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering (Degree or HND, or equivalent experience)
Strong leadership, communication, and commercial awareness skills
You’ll be joining a close-knit, respected team where ideas are valued and where quality and reliability matter more than volume-driven growth.
If you’re interested in leading the operational future of a well-established Scottish civil engineering business, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
