Principal Teacher Salary Scale Point 1 (£57,498 per annum) Monday - Friday West Barns Primary School is looking for a dedicated and creative Principal Teacher to join our friendly and welcoming school team. The Principal Teacher also has teaching responsibility, currently for our P6/7 class. West Barns is a semi-rural primary school in East Lothian with 5 composite classes in the primary school and a 40-place term time nursery. Our learners, school team and families benefit from a large playground with ample opportunities for outdoor learning, a supportive parent council, and a new-build nursery. We have a committed staff team and are looking for someone who will play a key part in building on our success. Subject to the policies of the school and the Council, the duties of Principal Teachers are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct. These should give reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to: Curricular development and quality assurance. Contribute to the development of school policy in relation to the behaviour management of pupils. Review the CPD needs, career development and performance of colleagues. Assist in the management, deployment and development of pastoral care staff. Implement whole school policies dealing with guidance issues, pastoral care, assessment and pupil welfare. Working alongside class teachers to share best practice and take forward the Improvement Plan priorities. This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
