About the Role
We are seeking committed and flexible Residential Support Worker's to join our family-run children’s service, supporting young people aged 14–17. This role involves working closely with children who may present with challenging behaviours, providing consistent, trauma-informed care within a safe and structured environment.
You will work as part of a 2:1 staffing ratio, allowing you to build meaningful relationships and provide tailored support that meets each young person’s individual needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference while developing your career within a supportive organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Build positive, trusting relationships with young people
* Support daily routines, structure and emotional wellbeing
* Engage young people in activities, education and personal development
* Manage and respond to challenging behaviours in a calm and professional manner
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a safe and supportive environment
* Promote independence, life skills and positive outcomes
Shift Patterns
* 36 hours per week (typically 3 shifts)
* Day shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
* Night shifts: 8:00pm – 8:00am
* Flexibility is essential (preferences can be considered, but a mix of days and nights is required)
Requirements
* A calm, patient and resilient nature
* Ability to engage effectively with young people and build strong relationships
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional and supportive manner
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
* Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people (residential care, schools, youth work, SEN, family support or similar)
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
