About the role

SEN Teaching Assistant - Salisbury Prospero Teaching is looking for a patient, enthusiastic, and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Salisbury area. This long‑term role involves working with students who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social or emotional challenges. You will provide consistent, tailored support to help pupils engage with learning, develop confidence, and feel safe and supported throughout the school day. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and making a real difference in their education. This role is well suited to candidates with backgrounds in SEN, care, support roles, youth work, or graduates seeking hands‑on experience in education, psychology, or child‑focused careers. The Role: Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance for pupils with SEN Support pupils with classroom learning, activities, and transitions Assist with emotional regulation, confidence‑building, and behaviour support Help adapt learning tasks under the guidance of teaching staff Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support teams Encourage independence, engagement, and positive social interaction Contribute to a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs Strong communication and teamwork skills Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils Adaptable, reliable, and proactive Passionate about supporting pupils who need extra guidance Psychology, education, or child‑related graduates encouraged to apply Contract Details: Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Salisbury Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full‑time, term‑time Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour Contract: Long‑term Experience, Training & Safeguarding: SEN or child‑support experience desirable Safeguarding training can be provided Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential What Prospero Teaching Offers: Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding & behaviour management Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant Long‑term opportunities with potential progression A genuinely rewarding role supporting pupils who benefit from additional supportIf you're looking for a meaningful SEN Teaching Assistant role in Salisbury, we would love to hear from you.
