PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitter

About the Role: Our client is seeking experienced PSV/HGV Mechanical Fitters to join their engineering team based in Chelmsford. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities: * Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs and servicing * Identify the correct repair methods and required parts * Perform routine maintenance and vehicle safety inspections * Use diagnostic equipment and handheld data capture devices where applicable * Attend roadside breakdowns and assist with vehicle recovery when required * Carry out road testing to validate repairs and identify any further issues About You: * NVQ Level 3 / SVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Vehicle Maintenance (essential) * PSV or HGV experience preferred, but not essential * Applications welcomed from ex-Forces personnel or engineers from other sectors * Full UK driving licence required * PCV licence desirable (training can be provided) * Flexible and reliable with the ability to work shifts and weekends * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills What’s on Offer: * Competitive hourly rate with enhanced weekend pay * Overtime opportunities * PPE and essential tools provided * Ongoing training and opportunities for career progression * Health and wellbeing support including virtual GP, mental health services, and cashback on dental & optical care * Retail and supermarket discounts * Free onsite parking and cycle to work scheme * Up to 5 weeks annual leave + bank holidays * Pension scheme and employee share options Working Hours: * 4 days out of 7 (including weekends) * Rotating shifts: * Early: 05:00 – 15:00 * Late: 14:30 – 00:30 * please apply with your cv
