Job Title: CNC Operator - Days
Location: Preston,
Working Arrangement: Fully On‑Site
Hours: 08:00-16:00 Monday-Friday
Contract Length: 12 Months
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Start Date: Subject to BPSS Clearance and pre employment medical
Pay Rate: £19.53 per hr PAYE (as well as 33.5 days paid leave per year)
The Client
You will be joining a long‑established nuclear fuel manufacturing site specialising in the fabrication of fuel for AGR and LWR reactor types. The site also provides uranium conversion services, processes fuel‑cycle residues, and supports the decommissioning of redundant plant facilities.
About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for two experienced CNC Operators to join the Component Manufacturing Plant near Preston. This role sits within a quality‑ and safety‑critical environment, where precision, attention to detail, and strong compliance with procedures are essential.
You'll be based onsite, working as part of a skilled manufacturing team supporting critical component production.
Key Responsibilities
Operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce precision components.
Use hand tools proficiently, including deburring and finishing stainless steel products.
Carry out detailed inspection activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Perform manual handling tasks in line with safe working practices.
Maintain high housekeeping standards within your operational area.
Work flexibly across different roles and operational areas as required.Skills & Experience Required
Some experience operating CNC milling and turning machines
National Certificate in an engineering or machining discipline would be preferred
Experience working to strict operating procedures and regulations
Background in quality‑ or safety‑critical environments preferred
Strong attention to detail with a questioning and safety‑focused mindset
Willingness to work different shift patterns if requiredAdditional Requirements
Successful applicants must pass a Criminal Records Bureau Check.Must become a Monitored Worker under Ionising Radiations Regulations.
Some tasks will require personal protective equipment, including respirators.
Security Level: UK - Able to gain UKSC clearance
