About the role
I am working on behalf of a well-established and respected civil engineering and groundworks contractor to recruit a Quality Engineer for a major infrastructure project in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and promoting high-quality standards on one of the most significant construction projects in the UK.
The Role:
As a site-based Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all groundworks and civil engineering activities meet the client’s quality standards and comply with relevant specifications and regulations. You’ll work closely with site teams, engineers, and the client to manage inspection and test plans, quality documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:

Implementation and management of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
*
Conducting inspections and audits on-site to verify compliance
*
Maintaining accurate and comprehensive quality records
*
Liaising with engineers, site managers, and client representatives on quality matters
*
Supporting the project team with NCRs, corrective actions, and root cause analysis
*
Ensuring compliance with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
*
Promoting a strong quality culture across the site
The Ideal Candidate:
*
Previous experience in a Quality Engineer role on civil engineering or groundworks projects
*
Good understanding of ITPs, construction specifications, and relevant quality standards
*
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality control
*
Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
*
Relevant qualification in civil engineering, construction, or quality management
*
CSCS card (and ideally a relevant quality or auditor qualification)
