We are working with The Fostering Company, part of the Five Rivers Child Care Group, to recruit a Supervising Social Worker to join their established team in Newcastle. Role Overview
As a Supervising Social Worker, you will support foster carers across the Northeast, ensuring they are equipped to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children and young people. You will hold a realistic and manageable caseload, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality supervision and meaningful support.
You will work within a trauma-informed and therapeutic practice model, supported by access to clinical expertise and structured supervision. The role offers flexibility in how you manage your time, alongside strong organisational support.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and supervise a caseload of foster carers across the region
Provide regular supervision, guidance, and support to carers
Complete Form F Assessments where required
Promote and embed trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
Participate in recruitment and assessment of foster carers
Support children and young people through participation and engagement activities
Contribute to the out-of-hours support rota
Maintain accurate records using the CHARMS system
Work collaboratively with internal clinical, education, and residential services

Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work qualification
Experience within fostering or children’s services preferred
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice
Ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships
Good written and IT skills
Full UK driving licence
Right to work in the UK
