Operations Lead (School-Based)
Location: East London
Salary: PO2 (dependent on experience)
Contract: 41 weeks per year (term-time plus)
Start Date: As soon as possible
About the Role
An established and well-regarded multi-academy trust in East London is seeking an experienced and highly organised Operations Lead to support the effective day-to-day running of a secondary school.
This is a key role working closely with senior leaders, ensuring that operational systems, administration, and support services run efficiently to enable high-quality teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Support the smooth day-to-day running of the school
Ensure administrative and operational systems are efficient and effective
Act as a key point of contact for operational queries and issues
Finance
Support budget processes and monitor expenditure
Raise purchase orders and ensure compliance with financial procedures
Liaise with central finance teams to maintain accurate records
Human Resources
Coordinate recruitment administration and onboarding processes
Maintain staff records and support absence monitoring
Act as a link between the school and central HR functions
Estates and Health & Safety
Ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well maintained
Coordinate maintenance, statutory checks, and repairs
Support health and safety compliance and risk management
Compliance and Administration
Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed
Maintain accurate records for audits and inspections
Support preparation for Ofsted and internal reviews
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in an operations, administration, or school-based role
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good IT skills (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace)
High level of professionalism and attention to detail
Desirable
Experience working within a school or multi-academy trust
Knowledge of finance, HR, or estates processes
