Job Title: SEND Learning Support Assistant
Location: Sunderland
Contract Type: Long Term Temporary
Leader Education are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join an outstanding SEND secondary school for students aged 11–19.
The academy supports approximately 204 pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), autism, and complex medical conditions.
The school offers a rich, engaging and highly supportive learning environment, enhanced by exceptional specialist facilities such as a therapy pool and a fully equipped sensory room. These resources are central to helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

This is a long-term position, subject to a successful trial, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm.

The ideal LSA will:
Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
Have experience of working in a transferable role
Work with the pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
Follow personalised curriculum and care plans to meet pupil’s requirements
Participate in the planning and implementation of the child’s curriculum through lesson planning
Possess good classroom skills
Set up lessons, equipment, and activities within the classrooms
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil
